Zeinab Ismail-Scholarship winner 2011

February 17, 2012
Can you please introduce yourself?
My name is Zeinab Ismail; I'm 18 years old. I recently graduated from high-school and presented my official exams, coming one of the top 10 students in the whole country.

What can you tell us about your education?
I graduated from the General Science section of Mehdi School in Baalbeck, getting first place, for the Bekaa Region, and 9th, for the whole country, in the official exams. I'm currently enrolled in the engineering program at the Lebanese University in Hadath.

What was it like to be one of the top students in Lebanon?
It was great, of course, but I'm disappointed a bit because I knew I could have done better. There was just one exam I didn't do well at... But I managed to get a 17.9 on my officials, and now I'm enrolled in the engineering program at the Lebanese University. After the second year of general engineering courses, I plan on going into the Mechanical Engineering section of the program. I'm excited about that.

How was your interaction with BLOM BANK and the BLOM shabeb Program?
After the results of the official exams came out, the Bank called me and invited me to the gala that was held in honor of the students who got good results on the officials. There were prizes there and a draw, and my name came up, so I got a scholarship. So I really want to thank BLOM BANK for this experience and for all the help they're giving.

Do you have any bits of advice to share with students your age?
Well, I don't think there is a more satisfying experience than knowing that you've achieved something, so my advice would be for them to aim for greater achievements. It will only ask of them a bit more effort than they're giving right now, but it pays off in the end.
