It’s completely normal to be a little nervous when going to your first job interview. You’ll probably have to rehearse a few times in front of the mirror to test your communication skills. Try your very best to prove to the recruiter that you’re qualified. Don’t forget that you’ll be competing against other candidates to get the job. So look sharp and hey, confidence goes a long way.


  • Be punctual
  • Do your homework, research your company
  • Be interactive, ask questions
  • Be specific, NOT general
  • Be confident, NOT arrogant
  • Make sure your answers directly reflect the questions asked
  • Discuss, do not recite
  • Be realistic
  • Show what you know
  • Relate to the job vacancy
  • Dress appropriately
  • Show your enthusiasm for the job
  • Relax and answer each question concisely
  • Use body language to show interest
  • Avoid asking questions about salary and benefits unless a job offer is made
