BLOM shabeb Honoring Event 2015

Under the patronage of the Minister of Education and Higher Education, his Excellency Mr. Elias Bou Saab, BLOM BANK honored the top 100 baccalaureate graduates of 2015, on September 16th at The Unesco Palace – Beirut.

Mr. Saad Azhari, Chairman and General Manager of BLOM BANK, welcomed in his speech the participants in this honoring ceremony “which has become an important date on the agenda of the bank in the areas of educational, social and humanitarian responsibility." Mr. Azhari congratulated the honored students for their distinguished performance and eminence, wishing them more success and praising the efforts of their parents to provide "creative environment for education, knowledge and good behavior, especially in these difficult circumstances in which we live." Mr. Azhari invited the students to excel more and more "in order to leave their marks on the future of this country and to promote the spirit of citizenship and development."

Mr. Ghassan Shakaroun then delivered the speech of his Excellency Mr. Elias Bou Saab, expressing appreciation for "the invitation of Mr. Saad Azhari to honor, for the fifth consecutive year the top 100 overachievers of the Lebanese Baccalaureate, as part of BLOM shabeb program which provides a free service for young people to change their future through the opportunities it offers them.” Mr. Shakaroun then congratulated the students, inviting them to "work with perseverance and to make every necessary effort to succeed in their academic path."

During the event, BLOM shabeb program – launched in 2010 – was introduced. It is considered as one of the most important initiatives taken by BLOM BANK, aiming at helping the Lebanese youth in getting the best guidance as to planning their future. The said program even provides the youth with job opportunities through a chain of services and advices. This program targets high school and university students, as it gives them advice and instructions concerning different majors and various professional fields, as well as other services related to their career path. The program also includes many field activities and covers a wide variety of valuable information.

BLOM BANK also carried out a draw where university scholarships were awarded to the following winning students from all across Lebanon: Yasmine Abou Hamdan, Ahmad Abou Daher, Mohammad Khattar, Mohammad Hamadi and Mostapha Shokor.

Accordingly, a total of USD 200,000 in prizes was awarded by BLOM BANK during the event.
