An engraved stone in Beirut’s city center reads: “Site of the first edifice built in the Turkish empire for a girls school.” It refers to the American School for Girls (ASG), established in Beirut in 1835 by American Presbyterian missionaries. ASG inaugurated an important shift in education for women in Syria and the surrounding region.

There is so much more to a great education than attending classes. At LAU, students thrive on diversity and enjoy numerous opportunities to participate in events, initiatives, and projects that complement their academic studies. You can go as far as your motivation and curiosity take you. Visit the Student Life section of the LAU website to see how.

How?
You can apply either online or using the paper application form.
If you want to use the online method, you have to be able to pay the application fee online, using a credit card, and to provide a valid email address. (The payment is made after the form has been completed and submitted. Signing up and filling out the application is free.)
To apply the traditional way, you can download or request the appropriate form, fill it out on paper and submit it to the Admissions Office either by mail or in person.

When?
It’s always best to submit your application as early as possible.
The deadline for undergraduate applications for the fall 2010 semester is June 30, 2010.
The deadline for graduate applications for the fall 2009 semester was September 15, 2009. The dates for fall 2010 will be announced on this page.

Tuition (the cost of instruction) and other fees are paid every term you attend (fall, spring, and/or the summer modules).
For most majors, tuition is calculated by credit, and there are different rates depending on the type of courses you’re taking. For this reason, students must first complete their registration for courses before knowing exactly how much is due each term.
On average, the annual tuition for undergraduate programs is $12,286; for graduate programs, it’s $9,636.
The yearly tuition fee for the medical school is $22,000 (please check the admission page in the School of Medicine website for the most current figure). This is the only program that has a fixed annual tuition, rather than credit-based charges.
Students must also pay other annual, semester and one-time fees.
Please consult the Tuition and Financial Aid section for details about all educational fees and payment procedures at LAU.

LAU offers financial help to those who have got what it takes to succeed academically but cannot afford the relatively high cost of an excellent education. There are several ways to get tuition reductions or loans to help you through your university studies.
